Avis de décès : M. Richard Philip St. Amand ( - 2005-12-28)

Richard Philip St. Amand, 63, of Longmeadow passed away at home on December 28 with his family at his side.

A loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, he was employed as a buyer in the Purchasing Department at Mercy Medical Center, a member of the Sisters of Providence Health System. Earlier he spent 25 years as a Sears' employee, many of those years as partand/or inventory control manager in the three parts departments located in Sears Central Service Centers in West Springfield, Eastfield, and Newington, CT. Just prior to joining the Sisters of Providence Health System, he was employed at Rocky's Hardware in both East Longmeadow and Holyoke, and for a brief time as a buyer for the former Ames Department Stores, at Ames Corporate Headquarters in Rocky Hill, CT. He was certified as a buyer by the Purchasing Management Association of Western Mass, and a long time active member and board member of that organization.

He was also a member of the Pioneer Valley Yacht Club in Longmeadow. As a young man he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves, Yankee Division, Westfield. A member of St. Mary's Parish in Longmeadow, he served in the parish community as a Minister of the Eucharist, and on St. Mary's School Board. He was a current member of the parish's Knights of Columbus.

He will be forever sadly missed by his wife Patricia (Tatten) St. Amand, hischildren; Brian St. Amand of West Springfield, Robert St. Amand of Longmeadow, and Elizabeth (St. Amand) and Adam McCarthy of Hopkinton. Richard was the son of the late Philip St. Amand and leaves his devoted mother, Evelyn St. Amand of Chicopee, his brother, Roger St. Amand and his sister-in-law Diane St. Amand of Ludlow. He also leaves behind his loving and treasured grandchildren, Karen St. Amand, Julianne St. Amand, Philip McCarthy and Anthony McCarthy.

Visiting hours will be at Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home, Westfield Street, West Springfield from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30. Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Church, Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, at 10 a.m. On Saturday, Dec. 31.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Providence, 5 Gamelin St., Holyoke, MA or to the Adoption Resource Center at Brightside for Families and Children at 2112 Riverdale Road, West Springfield.
