At the Grand Falls General Hospital, August 4, 2003, Mrs. Rose St-Amand of Grand Falls and formerly of Saint-Andre passed away at the age of 89 years. She was the wife of the late Albert W. St-Amand. Born at St-Leonard-Parent in 1913, she was a daughter of the late Edmond and Memory (Michaud) Poitras.
Mrs. St-Amand was formerly a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She was predeceased by two sons, Joseph and Jos Euclide, a grandson, Stephane Desjardins. She is survived by five sons, Edgar (Jeanne) of Saint-Leonard, Euclide (Sherry) of Hartford, Connecticut, Richard (Colette) of Grand Falls, Felix (Roberta) of Chatham, Ontario and Robert (Line) of Saint-Andre, six daughters, Evelyn Felix of Meriden, Connecticut, Rita Dirr (Bob) of South Carolina, Therese Cavanaugh (Dale) of Meriden, Connecticut, Lorraine Desjardins (Hermel), Jeannine Laforge (Jacques) and Cecile Laforge (Eudore) of Grand Falls, 29 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, six brothers, Edouard Poitras of Grand Falls, Armand (Bernadette) of Hartford, George (Lilianne) of Manchester, Connecticut, Denis (Antoinette) and Gilbert (Lorraine) of Saint-Leonard and Alyre (Gisele) of St-Leonard-Parent, four sisters, Alda Violette (Melquis) and Jeanne Ouellette (Fidele) of Saint-Leonard, Yvonne Dube (Alphe) of Perth-Andover and Evelyne Michaud (Reno) of Corunna, Ontario, as well as nieces and nephews.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 p.m. Her funeral will be held Friday, August 8th at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Andre Roman Catholic Church, with interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
